This excellent tavern & restaurant is a real find. It is conveniently located near Steppenwolf and Royal George Theaters and serves reasonably priced food and drink in a friendly atmosphere. There is a large open bar area and quieter dining in the back. The menu is much more than typical bar & grill food. There is a wide range of appetizers from extremely tender grilled calamari to bruschetta to crab cakes. There are also the standard items like nachos and artichoke & spinach dip. The entrees are arranged by "Surf" and "Turf". The surf section had pecan crusted walleye pike, yellowfin tuna, salmon, halibut and sea bass. The turf selections includes several steaks and chicken entrees. The walleye was absolutely wonderful and the tuna had a nice soy dipping sauce. The wine list is small but adequate and very reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient and overall, well worth a repeat visit. We also went for lunch and enjoyed the crab imperial and the crispy chicken with bacon sandwiches.
