CHALKBOARD

Located on Lincoln Avenue where Tournesol used to be, Chalkboard opened in late 2006.  It is small and comfortable with bare walls except for a few shelves and the large chalkboard menu. I prefer menus that are easy to read without craning or having to stand up. Otherwise the restaurant was pleasant. The wines by the glass are also on a chalkboard and are pricey. For starters I shared the crab cake, which was large but not anything special, and the beet and goat cheese salad which could have used more cheese. For an entree, I had the pan fried wall-eyed pike. The fish was delicious.  We shared two desserts, the chocolate egg roll and the bread pudding. I am not a bread pudding fan but this was very good. Service was good but the waitress was a little full of herself.
