Suzy Crofton has been running Crofton on Wells for more than a decade. I hadn't been back in a long long time. She has a lovely understated space and an excellent seasonal American menu. The wine list is manageable but the prices are stratospheric. I din't find a single bottle of wine under $35 and most well above $60. I started with a delicious wild mushroom cassolette with a rich earthy flavor. As an entree, I had the black cod with lentils. The dish was a little salty and the cod was not nearly as good as the dish I had at Spring a week earlier. The Ono, an Hawaiian import, was firm and meaty and very tasty. We finished with the cheese plate. It was a nice selection of 3 cheeses but expensive for the plate. Service was good but not great.
