One of several restaurants owned by Jack Jones, this American bistro is wonderful. Located in a double storefront on the corner of Halsted & Belmont, the dining area has exposed brick walls and high tin ceilings but with an updated elegance. I especially like the lighting over the bar. The wine list is small and manageable and the prices run from moderate to high. There is an extensive Martini list. We started with the musroom and truffle ravioli and the crispy shrimp appetizers. The pear and gorgonzola salad more than ample to share. Among the entrees I enjoyed were the grilled pork chops with mashed sweet potatoes and apple chutney and the scallops on a mushroom polenta. I also tried the ahi tuna with excellent wasabi mahsed potatoes and I liked the broiled flounder with a green pea sauce served with lobster and mushroom risotto. For dessert, we shared the molten chocolate cake and the black & white ice cream turtle pie with chocolate & caramel sauces. Service was very good. There is a pre-theater rush for Briar Street Theater so there are some empty tables by 8 pm.
