Located one block from downtown Skokie, off of Niles Center Road, is this small comfortable French restaurant. The chef owner took the order and did the serving. It has only 9 tables and a reservation is definitely recommended. Papillon has a small wine list. I started with a nice but expensive heirloom tomato salad with goat cheese then had the pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables with a hint of truffle oil. Another starter was the house salad which was large enough for two. I also enjoyed was the pork chop with chanterelles. The menu is limited and there was only one non-meat entree. One night it was sea bass and another, salmon.. Good food but not a lot of choice, not even a vegetarian offering. The dessert menu was also small with only 2 choices, a creme brulee and a flourless hazelnut torte. The service was good.
